On Monday 3rd March, students from Years 7-13 had the opportunity to perform in the annual Twyford Classical Music Competition. The evening of music was split into two categories, Junior and Senior, and featured a wide range of performers. The competition was judged by Roy Stratford, who is Head of Piano and Chamber Music at St Paul's School in Barnes and also lectures regularly at Wigmore Hall and West Dean College. Roy has been conductor of the Woking Symphony Orchestra since 1984 and his compositions and arrangements have been published by Oxford University Press and Faber Music.

JUNIOR
1st Saki Mineno (piano)
2nd Lili Kumagi (piano)
3rd (Yvie Daniels, Hannah Jelonkiewicz (both piano)
SENIOR
1st Shuri Sasaki (violin)
2nd Marouf Sillem (clarinet)
3rd William Longhurst (trumpet)
The Ed Burrell Performance Cup for the overall winner of the competition was presented to Shuri in Year 13 for his performance of the Bruch Violin Concerto in G minor, and Saki in Year 7 won the Junior category with her performance of Mozart’s Fantasia in D minor.
The evening was a wonderful display of the array of talent exhibited by Twyford students and an enjoyable evening of music for students, family and friends.
