A-level grades at Twyford CofE High School have remained outstanding despite the national picture of top-end grades reducing to pre-covid levels.

A very impressive 48% of grades achieved were at A and A* and this enabled the majority of students holding Oxbridge offers or places on highly competitive courses such as Medicine to secure their places despite the UK-wide pattern of grade deflation.  This year 9 students from the school are going on to Oxford or Cambridge in a wide range of subjects including Engineering and Modern & Medieval Languages and 15 students have successfully got in to study Medicine.  A number of Twyford’s top achieving students are also moving on to very specialised courses such as the prestigious Tonmeister Music and Sound Recording course in Surrey and Aero & Astronautics in Southampton, both of which demand top grades for entry.  One student is heading to Princeton in the USA and another student to McGill University in Canada.

20 students at the school achieved the extraordinary feat of straight (3 or more) A* grades in their A-Level subjects.  45 students achieved 2A* grades and 1A grade or higher.

A special congratulations to the following students who achieved 4 A* grades: Sophia Biggs, Seth Fry, Limbani Kafwanka, Thomas Lines, Sivad Murphy-Freeling, Jess Sarson and Ruby Wooller.

Trust Head of Sixth Form Karen Barrie commented ‘Twyford’s results are superb and are testimony to a very robust Sixth Form operation which now extends from Twyford across 3 of the Trust schools. I am really delighted at how well students have performed but also the very careful individual support and guidance we are able to offer to students to make good choices which really work for them’.
